Mr Charles Magaya has been working with the Tanzania Public Service College since 1989 as a Trainer in Leadership, Management and Administration. He has also specialised in Training and rendering Consultancy services in Records, Archives and Information Management. He was leading a Team of Consultants who designed and Conducting Records Management Programmes at the level of Certificate and Diploma for Public Servants. His MA research project based on “Establishment of Sustainable Capacity Building in Records and Archives Management for the Public Servants” has contributed a lot in introducing Records Management programmes at the Tanzania Public Service College.
Magaya was the founder member of the Tanzania Records Management Project Funded by DfID and managed by the International Records Management Trust based in U.K and The Public Service Management in Tanzania. Due to the above working experience Mr Magaya has been appointed as a Director to the Records and Archives Management Department, under President’s Office, Public Service Management.
Magaya was involved in preparation of Registry Procedure Manual which is currently used by most of the MDAs. He was also involved in restructuring of records management systems and procedures. Give in puts in reviewing scheme of Service for Records Personnel. He was also participated in Decongestion of Records in MDAs and conducting awareness and sensitization seminars for Lower, Middle and Senior Public servants in the Public Service.
While was serving as The Director of Records and Archives Management Division from 2009 to 2018, Mr, Magaya has Coordinating and implementing Records Management Agenda in the PSRP I & II, engineering the establishment of National Records Center in Dodoma, Upgrading the Division into fully fledged Department with Independent Vote. Magaya also Coordinated and Supervise the building and establishment of Zonal Records Center in Mwanza. Attended many International Professional forum and presented papers on the successful performance of the Department Worldwide.
Magaya also published an academic book ‘Fundamentals in Records Management’ Saves as Board members to NACTE, SLAIDs, Records Management Advisory Board and Founder of the Nations Board.
